Intranet and Internet
Intranet
An intranet is a private network (private network) that uses Internet protocols
(TCP / IP), to share confidential information within a company or operating
company to its employees.Sometimes, the term intranet refers only to services
that are visible, namely the company's internal Web site. To build an intranet,
a network must have some components that build the Internet, the Internet
protocol (TCP / IP, IP address, and other protocols), the client and the server.
HTTP protocol and several other Internet protocols (FTP, POP3, or SMTP)protocol
is generally a component that is often used.
Internet
Typically, an intranet can be understood as a "personal version of the
Internet", or as aversion of the Internet that are owned by an organization. If a
corporation / business / institution to expose a portion of the internal network
to theoutside community, this is called extranets. It usually does not remove
all the content onthe intranet to the public to make the intranet to extranet.
For example we're buyingsoftware, books, etc. from an e-store, then usually we
can access the Intranet portion ofthe store. Business entity / company can block
access to their intranet via a router and puta firewall. A firewall is a
software / hardware that regulates a person's access into theintranet.
Protection is done through a variety of network parameters if it's IP address,
port number etc.. If the firewall is enabled then the access can be controlled
so that we can only access a part of the company's Intranet which became known
as an extranet.
